Get familiar with the oil & gas term and project

Yesterday, I put my full effort to understand the term used in the oil and gas sector and also i have learned their procedure and analysis of their project by read through their previous projects. Basically, OMBAK marine practicing the pipe line work at the site. In order to do the work, certain machinery and equipment should be recognized and their procedure and analysis should be done before going to the site work.

As an example, OMBAK got the project at Terengganu Crude Oil Terminal (TCOT) to do the pipeline from ANDR-A to TCOT. The first thing they need to do is prepare the procedure and the analysis. It is also containing the equipment should be brought or rent,person in charge, calculation and the arrangement of the equipment from the older site the the new project site.

For this time, I will introduce to you (readers) the machinery used to do the project on the site practiced by OMBAK.



This is a BARGE (I got from internet). In OMBAK, we used type POE Giant 7 (PG7). We used this barge as our big crane on the sea. All the lifting and lowering activities is done by this huge vessel. On the barge, we can do the welding activity. In order to do the mid-point tie-in activity (welding/merging within two pipeline), the two different pipeline will be lifted by the davit(like a crane on the barge) and it will bring it on the barge to weld it together. Then, it will be lowered down back to the seabed.




This is one of the type of trencher (OMBAK used the other type). It is functioned to trench the seabed in order to lay down the pipeline under the seabed. Below shows some trenching activity.







This is also kind of oil and gas activity. OMBAK just doing the pipeline activity for now and perhaps will expand their business scope later.

There are also many things should be consider when doing the project and also many equipment should be recognize but I will explain those later....
